Entertainer of the Year: Alan Jackson

29th Annual CMA Awards Summary

Singer-songwriter Alan Jackson wins his first entertainer of the year award, but the night clearly belongs to songstress Alison Krauss. Krauss earns the Horizon Award and female vocalist of the year. Her collaboration, "Somewhere in the Vicinity of the Heart" with Shenandoah, wins the vocal event of the year and her hit, "When You Say Nothing at All," wins single of the year. Vince Gills wins his record fifth consecutive male vocalist award. The Mavericks unseat Diamond Rio as vocal group, but Brooks & Dunn remain the vocal duo of the year. Patty Loveless' record When Fallen Angels Fly takes album of the year, and "Baby Likes to Rock It" gives the Tractors their first music video honor. The late Roger Miller and former CMA executive director Jo Walker-Meador are this year's Country Music Hall of Fame inductees.
