22nd Annual CMA Awards Summary
Hosted by Dolly Parton, this show marks the debut of the vocal event of the year category, which is won by Parton, Emmylou
Harris and Linda Ronstadt for their album, Trio. Mother-daughter duo, the Judds, win their first vocal duo of the year
honor. Singer K.T. Oslin unseats Reba McEntire as the female vocalist, while Kathy Mattea's "Eighteen Wheels and a Dozen Roses"
earns single of the year. Hank Williams Jr. takes home the entertainer of the year, and his Born to Boogie receives
album of the year. Randy Travis wins another male vocalist trophy, and newcomer Ricky Van Shelton earns the Horizon Award.
Singers k.d. lang, Kitty Wells, Brenda Lee and Loretta Lynn perform "Honky Tonk Angels." Lynn and the King of the Cowboys,
Roy Rogers, are this year's Country Music Hall of Fame inductees.
